Notice 

Effective January 2026, to protect student privacy and comply with FERPA (Federal Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act) regulations, the Financial Aid Office will no longer be able to disclose or discuss student-specific information over the phone.

How students can receive assistance:

  • Email us using your Solano-assigned student email address. Please note that personal email accounts (such as Yahoo, Gmail, AOL, etc.) cannot be used for student account-specific inquiries. 
  • Visit the Financial Aid Office in person during our posted window hours.

These methods allow us to properly verify student identity and provide accurate, secure assistance.

At Solano Community College, we believe every student deserves access to the resources needed to succeed. Our Financial Aid office offers a full range of support—grants, fee waivers, work-study, and assistance with federal and state applications—to help you afford your education without compromising your goals.

 

1. Figure out which application is right for you and Apply!


You only need to complete ONE application based on your eligibility.
Apply with CA Dream Act Application (CADAA) if you:
  • Are Undocumented (with or without DACA)

  • Have a U-Visa

  • Have a Temporary Protected Status

CADAA

Apply with Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) if you:
  • Are a U.S Citizen

  • Are a Permanent Resident (Green Card)

  • Are an Eligible Non-Citizen

2. Check for Financial Aid Application Open date & Deadline!

3. Gather the required information & documents!

If you're the student:
  • Student FSA ID/Login Info (FAFSA only)
  • Student Dream Act Account Login info
  • Social Security Number
  • Alien Registration Number
  • 2023 Income 1040 Tax Return (2025-26 FAFSA/CADAA) (if applicable)
  • 2024 Income 1040 Tax Return (2026-27 FAFSA/CADAA) (if applicable)
  • Amount in checking & savings accounts (if applicable)
  • Untaxed income such as child support received (if applicable)
  • Assets like businesses, investments, real estate etc. (not including retirement or primary residence) ( (if applicable)
  • List of schools you're interested in attending
If you're the parent or contributor of a dependent student (under 24 years-old):
  • Contributor FSA ID/Login Info (FAFSA Only)
  • Contributor Dream Act Account Login info
  • 2023 Income 1040 Tax Return (2025-26 FAFSA/CADAA) (if applicable)
  • 2024 Income 1040 Tax Return (2026-27 FAFSA/CADAA) (if applicable)
  • Amount in checking & savings accounts (if applicable)
  • Untaxed income such as child support received (if applicable)
  • Assets like businesses, investments, real estate etc. (not including retirement or primary residence) (if applicable)

4. Check your Award!


After your submit your FAFSA or CA Dream Act application it may take up to two weeks for Solano to receive your application.

Once your application has been received, you will receive a Financial Aid award letter by email detailing the grant(s) you may be eligible for. 


To view your financial aid awards:

  1. Login FalconNest student portal
  2. Select Student & Financial Aid
  3. Click on the Financial Aid Dashboard card
  4. Select Offer
  5. Scroll down to Grants and Scholarships to Pay for College to view your award.

The CADAA allows eligible undocumented and nonresident students (e.g., DACA recipients, TPS Holders, U-Visa Holders) to apply for California state college financial aid programs. Information submitted is NOT shared with any other government agency, and it is only used to determine financial aid eligibility. 

The FAFSA allows eligible US citizens, Permanent Resident (green card holders), and Eligible Non-Citizens. to apply for federal  and state college financial aid programs. 

Students only need to apply once a year.

Each year, a new financial aid application becomes available on October 1 for the upcoming academic aid year. Priority deadline* to submit is March 2**.

The financial aid application for each academic year closes two years later on June 30th at 11:59 pm Central Time. (For example, 2026-2027 aid year opens October 1, 2025 and closes June 30, 2027. )

To apply for financial aid, a student needs to submit CADAA or FAFSA  within the listed dates above. You can still submit your application even if the priority deadline has passed. Once the aid year closes, applications can no longer be submitted. 

On the financial aid homepage, look to step 3, “Gather the required information and documents, ” to see what a student and parent contributors will need to submit the FAFSA or CADAA application.

*Some financial aid programs have limited funding. Important to get your application in by the priority deadline.

**Date is subject to change. 

  1. Keep track of your email, as your college will send you a financial aid award letter once your application has been received and processed.
  2. Regularly review the “Offer” tab under the Financial Aid Dashboard in your FalconNest student portal to monitor updates to your financial aid awards.
  3.  If eligible for Cal Grants, create a  WebGrants 4 Students account to view your California state financial aid you have been awarded and complete any pending To Do list items, including selecting the school you plan to attend.
  4. Follow up with your school’s Financial Aid Office (FAO) if you have a special or unusual circumstance. In addition, follow up with your College’s FAO regarding housing information and Federal Work-Study eligibility.
  5. Use Our Scholarship Site to search for local scholarships!
